The 9th “Warsaw Health Promotion Days” are behind us
The leading topic of this year’s edition was mental health. During the two-day symposium 22 experts discussed the most important issues related to the protection and strengthening of mental health, as well as the use of artificial intelligence in this area. The event was organized by the Public Health Department of the Medical University of Warsaw and the Students’ Public Health Studies Club operating within the organization.
Almost PLN 38 million in funding from Medical Research Agency for two projects of the Medical University of Warsaw
The Medical Research Agency has finalized a competition for the implementation of epidemiological research on multi-morbidity. Two projects of the Medical University of Warsaw are among the 10 ones that have qualified for co-financing. One concerns the significance of allergic inflammatory processes on the occurrence of multi-morbidities, the other – multi-morbidities among premature newborns.
Specialists and patients about rare diseases
Despite the term, these diseases are not that rare. They affect approximately 2.5 million people in Poland and approximately 350 million in the world. Specialists say that no less than one in four patients, and perhaps as many as 40% of patients, suffer from a rare disease. Doctors, patients and their organizations and families talked about them during a conference organized by the Center of Excellence for Rare and Undiagnosed Diseases of the Medical University of Warsaw in cooperation with the “We Have Hit the Wall” Foundation. The Deputy Minister of Health, prof. Urszula Demkow, accepted invitation to the event from the Rector, prof. Zbigniew Gaciong.

New life was given to two girls and a boy. Two of them have already been discharged home. The third child developed complications, which he fortunately coped with and will probably leave the hospital soon.

Five projects of our university funded by the Medical Research Agency
The Medical Research Agency has published a ranking list after taking into account the appeals procedure, including the results of the second round of the Head-to-Head Research Competition for non-commercial clinical trials or research experiments. Twenty-two projects were recommended for funding, including three following the appeals procedure.

The signed agreement will support the joint participation of MUW and GUT scientists in international projects and foster the acquisition of funds for research, development and implementation work. The universities also want to cooperate, among other things, in the area of developing modern technologies to support the progress of medicine. The document was signed on February 20 by Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, Rector of MUW, and Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Rector of Gdansk University of Technology (GUT).

Summary of the action "WUM community for WOŚP"
PLN 61,107.73 is the amount that the academic community of our university collected for the 32nd Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. We would like to thank everyone involved in the campaign: those who coordinated it, those who decided to donate something from themselves for the auctions, those who bid and those who contributed to the collection in other forms.

On January 5, 2024, 16 transplants were performed in 24 hours at the University Clinical Center MUW. Prof. Maciej Kosieradzki, Prof. Michał Grąt, Prof. Bartosz Kubisa and Prof. Zbigniew Gałazka spoke on TVN about what an incredible organizational effort it was, as well as about their experiences from that day.
